This is a photo of The Wine Lover II, a work in progress. It's the under layers and sketch of a piece I'm doing on request, which will be very similar to Wine Lover. I'm still figuring out the draping of the shawl over the right shoulder. I might have a friend come over and sit for me to figure that out sometime this week, I was never happy with the right arm on the first painting, so I'm thinking some drapery might add more visual richness in that area. Also I'm going to challenge myself to work on lighting (noooo!) I'm a stubborn, non realist, or maybe I'm just lazy.... but I think a little glowy light on this piece might look cool, so I'm going to put in the work. The dress is going to be the same. I'll use my favorite GOLDEN color ever, Green Gold, to do transparent layers for the flower designs. Can't wait for that part! OK, well, I will hopefully give an update on this painting in a week or so.

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blogging world! I really think this is coming along beautifully. I don't know much about the "painting" world... so this might not be a compliment. But I really like the look on her face as if to say, "wine is lovely... I love wine and it makes me feel divine!" which is what I think when I have a great glass of wine. :) It's also very sensual which is nice as well.

ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite part about doing this painting, the naked adoration of wine is written all over this gal! I even will put a little winestain on her teeth to make it seem like she's already had a few glasses.
